WPT Australia Championship 2024ames Obst has claimed his first World Poker Tour (WPT) title by winning the WPT Australia Championship, taking home AUD $585,359 (~USD $398,512). Obst triumphed over nearly 400 competitors in a field of 396 players. In addition to his substantial prize, Obst earned a seat at the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas this December. The tournament generated a prize pool of AUD $2.93 million, with the top 50 finishers also gaining points towards the WPT Player of the Year leaderboard. Travis Endersby finished as the runner-up, earning AUD $389,478.

Festival Highlights:

  • Phoebe Yan emerged victorious in the Australian Women’s Championship, winning AUD $15,120.
  • Chen Li took first place in the Shane Warne Legacy Tournament, a charity event honoring the late cricket legend.
  • Corey Kempson claimed the AUD $20,000 Super High Roller, walking away with AUD $354,541.

Additionally, Bert Perry was named Player of the Festival after finishing second in both the AUD $800 Pot Limit Omaha and the AUD $2,000 Mini Championship. Perry accumulated a total of 1,275 points, earning a WPT Passport worth $5,000 and a Player of the Festival trophy.
