Seth Davies

Seth Davies has proven himself the master of the Super High Roller Bowl, securing both the No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) and Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) titles within the same year. Last August, Davies took down Juan Pardo in Cyprus, and this time, he completed a stunning comeback from just 2 big blinds at a four-handed table, claiming the coveted PLO title.

A New Era for the Super High Roller Bowl

The Super High Roller Bowl launched its PLO edition just a year ago, and in this latest event, 42 elite players—who gathered for PLO Series II—paid the $100,000 entry fee. Despite having less than a year of experience in the four-card format, Seth Davies secured a seat at the final table. He faced off against seasoned pros, including defending champion and chip leader, Jared Bleznick.

Things looked grim for Davies when he was down to just 2 big blinds in a four-handed battle, following Josh Arieh’s exit in fifth place. However, in Omaha, anything can happen. Reflecting on his comeback, Davies remarked, “With just two blinds, it doesn’t take much skill. Everyone saw it—I won nearly every hand I played over the next two hours. I got lucky repeatedly. It’s a great victory, but in PLO, craziness like this can happen.”

A Path to Victory

As Davies clawed his way back, the defending champ, Jared Bleznick, found his chances dwindling after doubling up Artem Maksimov. Seizing the opportunity, Davies eliminated Bleznick by calling from the small blind and hitting a set of nines on the flop.

Davies then took the lead in a defining hand against Sean Winter. Starting with an almost tied chip count against Russian pro Maksimov, Davies allowed Winter to push on all three streets in a 3-bet pot with aces. While the flop gave Davies two pairs, the turn improved him to a full house, and his final all-in was supported by a four-of-a-kind.

The tournament concluded with a final hand that resembled a classic Hold’em play. Davies made a low SPR all-in call with second pair, a bold move that ultimately secured his victory.

Final Standings and Payouts

  1. Seth Davies – $1,500,000
  2. Artem Maksimov – $900,000
  3. Sean Winter – $600,000
  4. Jared Bleznick – $450,000
  5. Josh Arieh – $330,000
  6. Sam Soverel – $250,000
  7. Ben Tollerene – $170,000

A Historic Double Win

Davies’ triumph in the SHR Bowl PLO came just two months after he clinched the NLHE title in Cyprus, where he defeated Juan Pardo in heads-up play. Between these two prestigious victories, Davies also placed second in the $100K SHR event at EPT Barcelona, earning a combined total of $5,696,000 across all three tournaments.
