The record for the most WSOP gold bracelets is held by Phil Hellmuth. However, in the world of WSOP circuit tournaments, one player is often dubbed the “Phil Hellmuth of the circuit”: Ari Engel.
Engel is the record holder for the most gold rings on the WSOP Circuit and recently broke his own record by winning his 18th gold ring. He achieved this milestone in the $888 Online Tour, which attracted 61 participants (including himself).
This latest victory took place during an online tournament held in Pennsylvania, USA. Despite the smaller field, Engel’s achievement is noteworthy, showcasing his exceptional talent.
His gold rings have come from various tour stops around the globe, and he has proven his versatility by winning championships in nearly every format. Whether it’s online, live, full-ring, six-max, heads-up, NLHE, PLHE, HORSE, Omaha Hi-Lo, or mystery bounty tournaments, Engel has triumphed in them all.
He is closely followed by Maurice Hawkins, who has 16 titles, indicating a fierce competition for the title of most gold rings. Engel’s 17th gold ring was secured in February of this year, while Hawkins’ latest championship win was in May.
To date, Engel has accumulated $1.1 million in earnings from the WSOP Circuit alone. In addition to his impressive collection of gold rings, he has also secured three gold bracelets at the WSOP, bringing his total live tournament earnings to over $9.1 million.
