The $500 million deal between two industry giants is now official: GGPoker has acquired full ownership of the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

A Landmark Acquisition in the Poker Industry

In one of the largest acquisitions in poker history, the World Series of Poker brand has been sold to NSUS Group, the parent company of GGPoker. This transaction marks a significant shift in the landscape of the poker industry and solidifies GGPoker’s position as a global leader.

The acquisition includes the transfer of three former WSOP executives to NSUS Group. Ty Stewart will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the WSOP under NSUS, Gregory Chochon will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer, and Erik Eidissen has been named Chief Communications Officer.

For years, GGPoker and WSOP have worked closely together. GGPoker has been the official provider of WSOP satellites and the host for WSOP Online, and is also a co-host of WSOP Paradise.

The $500 Million Agreement: What’s Next?

The agreement, worth $500 million, involves an upfront payment of $250 million, with the remaining $250 million due in five years. Despite the change in ownership, Caesars Entertainment will continue hosting WSOP events at its venues for the next 20 years and will also be responsible for organizing WSOP Circuit (WSOP-C) events globally.

This acquisition comes at a pivotal moment for both WSOP and GGPoker, as they gear up for the highly anticipated second edition of WSOP Paradise at the end of the year, boasting a guaranteed prize pool of $50 million.

What to Expect from GGPoker-Led WSOP in 2025 and Beyond

With GGPoker now at the helm, there’s much speculation about how the World Series of Poker will evolve in 2025 and in the future. Fans and players alike are eager to see what new innovations and experiences GGPoker will bring to the world’s most prestigious poker series.
