Timothy Chung, an Asian player based in the UK, has achieved his first WPT title.
Just hours ago, the WPT Prime UK Championship wrapped up at the Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club, following three days of intense poker action. After this thrilling competition, Chung from Hong Kong emerged as the new champion, marking a significant milestone in his poker career.
The tournament featured a buy-in of £1,100 and attracted 274 entries, creating a prize pool of £260,000 that was distributed among the top 35 players. In addition to the main prize of £57,660, the champion also received a £10,000 package for the upcoming WPT World Championship.
On the third and final day of play, the final table was set. Alongside Chung, the table included Vincent Meli (France) in 2nd place, Francois Tosques (France) in 3rd, Arron Pointon (UK) in 4th, Mingrui Cen (UK) in 5th, Jason Riley (UK) in 6th, Christopher Johnson (UK) in 7th, Chase Wilson (UK) in 8th, and Iulian Petrut-Petrache (Romania) in 9th.
Chung faced a grueling battle lasting over seven hours to secure his victory. Starting the final day as the chip leader helped him maintain a solid stack throughout the session. With a strong performance, he skillfully navigated the eliminations and ultimately defeated Vincent Meli to take home the trophy and his first WPT title.
